How Do You Measure Up

This chapter begins to take a dramatic shift from what Amos has prophesied so far. These final 3 chapters show us 5 visions of judgement that were shown to him. We know this because the very first thing said in verse 1 is, “This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me”.

These visions include disasters that will befall Israel. They include Locusts, Fire, Plumb line, and so on. Now we know throughout our studies we have seen locusts used several times. We see them used from Exodus to Revelation. Why is that? Well, the answer is simple. Look at Hebrews 13:8, ⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. He wants the people of Israel, and us, to know exactly where the judgement is coming from.
